I know you would say, it’s o.k. to get up almost before noon when you are on your summer break. But I don’t know how I should feel about it.
Well, I guess my body finally needed lots of rest since our ordeal started almost a week ago. I’m a little bit embarrassed to say that I slept almost 11 hours last night. Interestingly enough, I woke up with a headache and a summer cold – no, I still tested negative for COVID. Will see what comes out from all of this.
I tried to find a hotel and transportation for our upcoming trip to Dunajská Streda, the town where I had been living prior to moving to America. There is good public transportation here, but right now they are fixing the rails, so the trains are replaced with buses for a good part of the train ride to our destination. Additionally, we would need to change trains two times (with the bus in the mixture, three times), and this would make the travel a bit more complicated, especially in this heat.
I’ve been searching the internet trying to find the best way to get there. I was also sending messages to friends and family for ideas. Guess what? After devoting hours and hours to this activity, my aunt, Irén – a problem solver – had an answer for me. Her daughter, Veronica, is going to lend us one of their cars. Hurray! 😊 And I found a hotel room for Saturday night. Why all this effort? I was invited to the 25th reunion with one of my former classes from my teaching career in Slovakia. It would be nice to attend.
For your enjoyment, today I’m bringing you the summer countryside surrounding our village.
