It’s the middle of January of 2017. Today’s short walk with Steve around Green Lake provided a surprise not witnessed since he was a young man in the early 70’s. The lake is frozen!

Summer greeted Seattle in the end of June with lots of sunshine and warm weather, especially in the afternoons. A couple of days ago, when I went for one of my walks around Green Lake, I was ready for the usual park scenes.

The invitation came via email. Meet at a friend’s house in the afternoon, go for a pre-summer walk, bring some salads or appetizers, and have a light dinner together. Beverages would be provided by the hostess.

Seattle has a new bridge! We’ve seen it being built for five years. Today was the grand opening. The new SR 520 floating bridge – built by the Washington State Department of Transportation – is the longest in the world, 7710 feet. It’s designed to last for 75 years.

This past weekend’s weather was magnificent in Seattle. To go for a walk around Green Lake was a great decision I made on Sunday in the midst of a lot of school work. Not even noticing, we walked 3.4 miles with Steve!

Green Lake Park is one of the most popular parks in Seattle. In every season, including fall, there are thousands of people walking or biking the 2.8 miles (4.5 kilometers) long path around the lake while enjoying the scenery.
