There are many different ways to enjoy Prague, to be a tourist in the Golden City, the Czech capital. The city is the place of my college years; I feel at home here. Let me share with you some of my favorite walks on the cobblestone streets, seeing some of the famous sites.
snowy morning walk + unexpected snow day = white wonder around the lake
It’s the middle of January of 2017. Today’s short walk with Steve around Green Lake provided a surprise not witnessed since he was a young man in the early 70’s. The lake is frozen!
Summer greeted Seattle in the end of June with lots of sunshine and warm weather, especially in the afternoons. A couple of days ago, when I went for one of my walks around Green Lake, I was ready for the usual park scenes.
The invitation came via email. Meet at a friend’s house in the afternoon, go for a pre-summer walk, bring some salads or appetizers, and have a light dinner together. Beverages would be provided by the hostess.
Seattle has a new bridge! We’ve seen it being built for five years. Today was the grand opening. The new SR 520 floating bridge – built by the Washington State Department of Transportation – is the longest in the world, 7710 feet. It’s designed to last for 75 years.
Spring break, day 3: Walking clockwise around Seattle’s popular Green Lake in the morning around 8 a.m. Reading the different signs around the lake and noticing the fishing boat and the friendly ducks. Not too many people. Beautiful flowers on my way back to our house.
Spring break, day 1: Walking clockwise around Seattle’s popular Green Lake in the early afternoon around 1 p.m. Not too many people. The daffodils are almost gone, some trees and shrubs in magnificent full bloom. Colorful boats are awaiting the warmer weather.
During my winter break in California, we were fortunate enough to visit Squaw Valley in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The Squaw Valley Ski Resort is one of the largest in the U.S. and is famous for hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics.
It’s a lovely early November in Seattle. After the gray mornings and the drizzle, the sun still shines by midday.

My husband Steve and I experienced its autumn beauty while taking a leisurely walk through one third of its entire 1.45 miles length exactly a year ago, when we found ourselves unexpectedly in New York.
