During my winter break in California, we were fortunate enough to visit Squaw Valley in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The Squaw Valley Ski Resort is one of the largest in the U.S. and is famous for hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics.

My autumn walks in Seattle – Őszi sétáim Seattle-ben
It’s a lovely early November in Seattle. After the gray mornings and the drizzle, the sun still shines by midday.
Walking the High Line of New York City – Séta New York High Line parkjában
Do you wish to see a truly one-of-a-kind park? The High Line Park of New York City is like no other. My husband Steve and I experienced its autumn beauty while taking a leisurely walk through one third of its entire 1.45 miles length exactly a year ago, when we found ourselves unexpectedly in New York.
Tulip festival – Tulipánfesztivál
Tulip Festival! What a concept! Americans like to call a variety of events a festival. For example, they plant fields and fields of tulips for getting tulip bulbs for the following year’s season, and they invite the public to view the magnificent fields of colorful flowers – this is called a festival.
Green Lake in early March – A Green Lake tó március elején
This past weekend’s weather was magnificent in Seattle. To go for a walk around Green Lake was a great decision I made on Sunday in the midst of a lot of school work. Not even noticing, we walked 3.4 miles with Steve!
Walk around Green Lake in the fall – Őszi séta a Green Lake tó körül
Green Lake Park is one of the most popular parks in Seattle. In every season, including fall, there are thousands of people walking or biking the 2.8 miles (4.5 kilometers) long path around the lake while enjoying the scenery.
Unexpectedly in New York – Váratlanul New York-ban
Don’t you like it when something good comes from something bad? When I learned that to renew my almost expired Slovak passport I needed to submit my application in person in New York, I couldn’t believe this was happening to me. My first reaction was “Oh, no, I don’t need a trip now, my life is already too busy with work, and the timing is simply not good!”
First day of Christmas break in Seattle – A karácsonyi szünet első napja
There were no fanfares, no fireworks, not even cakes. But it was a celebration. It actually all started on Friday, a day earlier, waking up to snow. We had an unexpected snow day – a leisurely day of reading, relaxing, and eating too many cookies.
