Many people don’t realize that grasses can also be as beautiful as leaves when they change their colors.  Here is a sample from our garden.

The many different kinds of leaves in our garden provide a never ending variety of color as the season changes.  Even year after year we don’t get tired of their beauty.

Below our blooming Japanese stewartia tree peacefully coexist yellow and pink daylilies, blue wild geraniums together with pink and white foxgloves.

May is an amazing month.  Not just because both my birthday and anniversary are in May, but because lots of my favorite flowers are in full bloom this time of the year.  Do you have stories of why certain flowers are your favorites?  Here are some of mine.

This year, our tulips are mostly done giving space to other flowers to shine.  Here is to the national flower of Turkey.

Before all the blues and whites are gone from our garden and the neighborhood, here is a small sampling of these beauties.  Asian pear flowers, bluebells, trillium, blue violets, more Asian pears, blue periwinkle ground-cover, our plum tree tucked in between two houses, forget-me-not, and my absolute favorite – poet white daffodil.

It started with the pinks and yellows, followed by the whites, blues, and some reds.  The colors in our garden and in the neighborhood say everyday – spring is here.

White snowdrops and purple hellebore from its shady location in our garden nodding to the incoming spring.  Bright clumps of silky crocuses joining in the welcome.

Gray and rainy morning, gray the whole day.  Sipping my favorite Earl Gray, reading the Sunday paper and a book about books.  Planning the holiday schedule, deciding on projects to undertake.  And surprised by the still existing colors in the garden.
